FYI, in case anyone is interested.
Sarkar is a professor in the UT philosophy department; he's hardcore
atheistic scientific reductionist. Nelson is with the International
Society for Complexity, Information, and Design, a groups of well-
credentialed academics whose main goal seems to be to support the
notion of intelligent design. He is also a professor at Biola
University, a Christian school that looks Evangelical from the website.

Intelligent Design vs. Evolutionary Theory: A Debate on the Nature of
Evolution
WHEN: 7:30 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2006
WHERE: UTC 2.112A
WHO: Open to the general public
Dr. Sahotra Sarkar, Professor at The University of Texas, and Dr.
Paul Nelson, Fellow at the Discovery Institute, will debate the
plausibility of explaining evolutionary processes in purely natural
terms. The main question of the debate will be, "Can the evolution
of life on earth be explained by purely natural processes?" Dr.
Nelson will contend that evolutionary theory cannot adequately
explain the history of life on earth and argue for a supernatural
Intelligent Designer, while Dr. Sarkar will argue in contra.
This event is organized by the Undergraduate Philosophy Association.
