Peace Pieces

"Peace Pieces" is an effort by Western District Conference's Peace and
Social Concerns Committee to periodically provide WDC congregations with
short, timely peace statements in order to support, inspire and challenge
each other to live according to principles of nonviolence.

· "Violence can never stop violence because its very success leads
others to imitate. Ironically, violence is most dangerous when it
succeeds." -- Walter Wink

· "The only way to enact changes of opinion for peace and progress is
through education and long-range peaceful settlements. These may take
longer, but they do not take lives." -- Jeannette Rankin, lone member of
U.S. Congress to vote against entering World War II. From 366 Ways o Peace
calendar

· "War is one of the worst things of humanity. The Fine Arts are one
of the best things of humanity, and we need to be reminded of that,
especially in time of war." -- Ryan Soyez, Goessel (Kansas) High School art
student
