Dear Friends, 

Below is a list of AAIM's upcoming events as well as other events in the
community. This Saturday and Sunday is AAIM's Hands on Housing Bluebonnet
Blitz Repair Weekend. It is not too late to sign up! Also, this Sunday
afternoon at 3:00 pm at Temple Beth Israel, you can learn about the campaign
to stop genocide in the Sudan. 

On Tuesday, May 2nd, AAIM invites Clergy and Religious Leaders to a
delightful and informative breakfast, thanks to Seton's generosity, at
Huston- Tillotson University during Cover the Uninsured Week. This gathering
will be a continuation of the important efforts of Religious Leaders across
Austin to address Quality of Life Concerns. 

Finally, on Sunday, May 7th, AAIM is convening a women's worship at Ebenezer
Baptist Church entitled, Celebrating Divine Sisterhood. Women of all faiths
are invited to come hear Rev. Monya Stubbs bring a word of hope and
encouragement as we honor women's spiritual gifts. The next day, women are
invited to a network gathering featuring a keynote from Patti Speier of
Seton Cove Spirituality Center. These are just a few highlights but please
scroll down to hear about the amazing opportunities for growth, discovery
and service.

AAIM's Bluebonnet Blitz
THIS WEEKEND!
Saturday, April 22- Sunday April 23, 2006 

The Hands on Housing "Bluebonnet Blitz" will take place this weekend with 23
teams from a wide variety of faith communities working on repairing homes
all over East Austin. Teams will be painting, repairing siding, installing
vinyl floors, putting on a new roof, and providing many small repairs. Our
client base averages over 70 years of age with annual incomes averaging
under $10,000.

Tour for Darfur: Eyewitness to Genocide 


A Unique and Personal Perspective

This is an Interfaith Event and all are welcome!! 
Brian Steidle is a former Marine captain who served from September 2004 to
February 2005 as an unarmed military observer and U.S. representative to the
African Union peacekeeping mission to stop the ongoing genocide in the
Darfur region of western Sudan. Since February 2002, at least 300,000 people
are estimated to have died in Darfur as a result of what the President and
Congress recognized in 2004 to be genocide. Capt. Steidle's current mission
is the Tour for Darfur: Eyewitness to Genocide, a multi-state, three-month
tour of the United States to promote the "Million Voices for Darfur"
campaign sponsored by the Save Darfur Coalition,(www.SaveDarfur.org). To

The Response: Part II of AAIM's Abraham Walk

On May 21st, Barbara Fields, executive director of the Association for
Global New Thought and creative visionary behind the Abraham Path Initiative
will describe her international efforts to create a pilgrimage path through
some of the most contentious areas of the Middle East. Ken and Joyce Beck
will join Barbara Fields on a panel and describe the local activities that
will take place in conjunction with the international efforts. After the
panel, representatives from Austin's faith communities will convene to
develop a strategy for creating a city- wide solidarity walk in Austin in
honor of Abraham, the common ancestor of Christians, Muslims and Jews.

8th Annual Praise in the Park (PIP)

Buttermilk Park

Families and children are invited to join hundreds of other community
members and evangelists to share God's love and celebrate youth. More than
1,000 families, youth and future leaders are expected to gather at
Buttermilk Park for this free, family-geared event, which features the Unity
March and Parade, live music, guest speakers, a basketball tournament, a
moonwalk, dozens of vendors, and much more. PIP is a Christian-based family
outreach event that is organized and led by dozens of churches in the area.
Leaders and volunteers from multiple Christian denominations unite to
promote Christian fellowship.

7th Annual Minister's Cup Golf Tournament 


May 22, 2006
Riverplace Country Club 
4207 River Place Blvd, Austin, TX 78730 

This will be a great day of golf, celebration, fellowship and sharing of
God's love at the Minister's Cup Golf Tournament benefitting the Samaritan
Counseling Center. This annual event brings together teams from a wide
variety of church congregations and other golfers in the community who
support the goals of the Center. This year's tournament will honor Volma
Overton and his family. 

Congregations and organizations are encouraged to invite their members and
employees to participate. An organization can have as many participants as
they like. Men and women of all skill levels are welcome. Ministers may play
on their team or ride along with their parishioners.
