I think a bike rack is a great idea. The details of how and where don't matter so much to me. But how about in the lawn area to the left of the main entrance (when facing the entrance)? On 2/27/15, 12:41 PM, "Michael Shirk" <Michael.Shirk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:Michael.Shirk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>> told me: Stacy's suggestion for racks is great, far better than wavy. I don't think we need slab - on really wet days people probably won't ride to worship, there is not (that I know of) enough bike traffic to cause the area to turn desolate, and the less impenetrable ground cover the better. I like front where ne're-do-wells are less likely be tempted and riders can enter church from front but without interfering with people coming and going as riders fusel around their bikes. Is this a good idea Yes 2) Do we need a slab for a bicycle rack? Probably. I wouldn't have suggested that we go a really long way out of our way to get one, but in this set of circumstances it seems like a good idea. 3) Would [this] be a good time to pour a small slab for a bicycle rack? Yes. 4) Where should that rack be located? I'm ok with pretty much anywhere. But my two favorite choices (in order of preference) are: a) Near the pathway to the back gate (near the HVAC enclosure). This has the benefit of being out of the wayish while still being convenient. b) Near the front door to the church. I don't have a huge preference any which way, but I think next to the sidewalk that bisects the semicircular piece of land transcribed by the driveway and the road would be good. 5.) You didn't ask, but while I like the wave style ok if I had my choice it would be four to six of these (http://www.parkitbikeracks.com/outdoor-bike-racks/park-it-2-bike-racks) in a row. The new 48 inch sidewalk will connect the street sidewalk to the south entrance of the facility primarily used by the child development center. The current sidewalk is 36 inches wide and has been lifted and cracked by tree roots. It will be removed. We will also pour a cement slab on the south side of the furnace area for the trash and recycling carts. A fence will be built around that slab. These two projects do not require a large amount of cement and we were wondering if while we had a crew on hand and a cement truck delivering a load of concrete if it would be a good time to pour a small slab for a bicycle rack? Where should that rack be located? Our bicyclers currently park their bikes in the playground area, either bringing them through the front doors of the church or around the side of the church. Do we need a slab for a bicycle rack? Here's a link to the wave style. http://www.parkitbikeracks.com/outdoor-bike-racks/park-it-galvanized-bike-racks Give us some feedback and your ideas about this. Some of our bicyclers have said they would like a rack near the front door so their bikes would be more secure. Where in front? Near the red bench? Closer to the front door? Any thoughts? Is this a good idea? Lee Lever, Pastor Austin Mennonite Church AustinMennonite.org<http://AustinMennonite.org>
