It has been good to be able to be present at family events - a wedding and
a funeral - over the last few weeks. We went to Tampa, Florida for a
nephew's wedding on April 26. We drove down to Bradenton, Florida and
visited Lee's sister and husband and spent an afternoon on Bradenton Beach,
a beautiful day on the white sand. As we made our way back to Texas we
stopped in New Orleans for an afternoon at the French Quarter, another
beautiful day. We had lunch at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant. That's
all I got to say about that. We returned on May 1, just in time to help
out with the Hands on Housing workday on May 2. We did some repairs and
painting on the house of a 95 year old Ms. Willie Mae Brown. About a dozen
AMCers participated on Saturday and Sunday. Way to go! On Thursday
morning, May 7, Terri and I drove toward Illinois for her father's memorial
service on May 9 in Freeport, Illinois. On Mother's Day, May 10, we were
able to stop in Wichita, Kansas and have lunch with our daughter, Emma, a
special mother's day treat. We arrived back in Austin on May 11. Thanks
for your prayers and thoughts as we traveled. The only regret I have is
that I did not leave a key to my office with anyone!

*Sharing of Joys and Concerns from Sunday, May 3*

happened our house while we were gone! (Craig, Miguel, Marcia, Angie)
- Janice - excited about Trinity Child Development Center receiving a
$5000 grant.
- Jim - thanked Michael for his message and for the reminder that we are
created in God's image.
- Bob Knipe - expressed appreciation for teachers and students.
- Omar - thanked Michael for his message. Concerned for his family as
they travel in difficult places. He is trusting God more these days.
- Peggy - George is a patient at St. David's in Round Rock undergoing
chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
- Natalie - Genevieve has a toothache today and will visit the dentist
this week. Natalie's future mother in law, Andy, has experienced some
relief from her fibromyalgia recently.
- Stacy V. enjoyed listening to the Prairie Home Companion radio show
broadcast a performance from Goshen College, a Mennonite college in
Northern Indiana.

the team repair, scrape and paint at the home of Willie Mae Brown, a 95
year old woman still in her own home.

a really special mother.
