I make a lot of patches on a wool fabric so it has a bit of "fuzz" on the
surface that I want to "rise above". (especially with white thread on a black
wool background) Sometimes I use a double zig zag. On large letters, I use a
fill underlay. Any other suggestions?
I'm going to try your technique of a close to the edge, edge walk first then
the zig zag -- it sounds good.
