The little finger that hold the black basket in place is loose - it seems like.
Loosen the two screws on the finger (on the left side), rotate the black
basket so that the notch is at the top and fit the finger in the notch. Now,
in the bag of tools you got with your machine, there is a little piece of metal
that kind of looks like a flag. The "pole" is the gapper. Stick that down
behind the finger and push the finger against it while you tighten the screws.
Take the gapper out. Now it should work. And yes, with the finger not holding
the basket in place, you will break needles.
