I've been having a problem with my XT today. I just loaded McAfee AntiVirus
onto it a few weeks ago, and noticed the virus scan was running. I shut down
the machine, shut down OS, then cancelled the scan. Restarted OS and restarted
machine, and all is working like clockwork. Because this computer is mainly
for the machine, and just downloads designs when I need to from the internet, I
hadn't put McAfee on it before. But running the scan when starting OS
definitely messed with it. Could yours possibly have something similar going
on?
