Why did it pucker in the first place? Did you have a fill? If so, was the fill very dense? I know (before embroidery) when I hand sewed costumes for theater, etc.-we would 'iron' down any puckered seams, and with some of my embroidery, using solvy topping I would hit it with a steamer to get rid of excess showing, also gets rid of hoop burn, chalk marks....I noticed some puckering would disappear! If you have to 'eat' the shirts, would it hurt to try ironing one and see what happens? Steam and iron might 'loosen up' that thread pucker and salvage the shirts!
