For what it's worth - and I am not a professional digitizer by any means - I
use Bernina V7 though have Design Shop Pro 2009 install and have tested
Embrilliance Stitch and Embird and Wilcom.
By far the easiest to use (for me) is Embrilliance - and their customer service
is spectacular - at least in comparison to others I've experienced. I come
from an AutoCAD - beginning prior to drop down menus R12 almost 20 yrs ago -
until more recent versions and Photoshop background.
I have recently purchased two Big Reds second hand and have found the Design
Shop pro counter-intuitive - for me. Bernina V7 saves to Melco no problem but
it is pricy.
The inexpensive Embrilliance saves to Melco too but I haven't stitched out yet.
I don't use auto-digitizing ever so I can't comment on any of those functions
in any software.
I just found my questions answered pleasantly but immediately at Embrilliance -
and I hadn't yet spent a dime with them - just using the demo versions - which
I will buy - for only 3 or 4 hundred - plus I tried their Density reducer and
loved it - though it may not be up to your standards or even required by
stronger digitizing software users than me.
Just My 3cents for what it's worth if you need an easy to use and inexpensive
solution.
