Di,

For starters, I do not like the sticky back on the fast frames, especially with
metallic thread. Lots of fraying and thread break problems...use regular
backing like poly mesh, etc, and tape it to the top of your fast frame, place
your garment over the top of it and use small clamps to clamp the garment,
backing and fast frame--frame edge together...works great...

Slowing the machine down is also a good idea as you suggested. The needle size
is ok, may not work as well on any small lettering present, but you indicated
these were 2" so it shold not be a problem.

Density, lighten up a bit...say if you are using a 3 density, go to 4,
etc...... this is one you have to experiment with to get it right....

A zig zag underlay would also help....

The thing that would give you the most problem, is that sticky back backing
with the velvet and metallic thread combination.....
