The part that you are referring to Herb, is a "Thread Tree Thread Cone
Seat". It's the white plastic piece that holds the silver cone tube in it's
upright position and also supports the thread cone as well. The part number
is: 005701-01

I had the same thing going on. Contacted MELCO and explained the issue.
They sent me new plastic pieces that the thread sirs on, cannot remember the
exact name of the part, and after installing them the problem went away.
