The "gapper" is a gauge. Bend the little tip to about a 45 degree angle so it 
makes it easier to get into the notch in the rotary hook basket. That little 
thingy, being referred to, is called the retaining support finger. Juli is 
right to suggest this....it must be gauged properly for the machine to operate 
correctly.

A parts CD is supplied with your machine and it is very easy to use. With it, 
you can quickly identify any part in the machine, visually, and call it by name 
so the thingy that is operating the thingy in front of them can more accuately 
tell those thingies in Denver which one of the thingy's things are 
mis-behaving....sorry couldn't resist... ;-))
