The smoke that poured out of one of my Amaya'a turned out to be the Z motor.
It also fried the main board. It was not related to the 4 million
stitch maintenance I was doing.
The tech came up two days ago, overnighted the parts and came up again
yesterday to install.
It's sewing fine again. I have two machines and the only thing worse
than being down to one machine is probably having one and being down to
none.
(20hours of sewing turns into 40)
