Hey ACES Members,

Welcome back to Curtin for the second semester of 2012. Unfortunately we
are already into week four which means the assignments, tests and labs are
starting to build up but we have some good news for you ...ACES finally
have some events for you to help ease the stresses of university life.

Our first event is on Tuesday the 21st of August (only two weeks away) and
we are having a combined quiz night with the Curtin Engineers Club (CEC).
The night is themed as a "Night at the Movies" and naturally, some people
will dress accordingly but this is not an expectation for the event so
don't let that deter you. Entry will be $5 and you just have to pay on the
night at 7.00pm at the engineering pavilion. Tables will be arranged as
tables of 6 so bring enough friends to fill your table. Thanks to the
partnership with CEC, we are providing free pizza, soft drink and popcorn
all night so come down, have some food, relax and enjoy a fun, and trivia
filled night. Check out the ACES and CEC facebook pages for more
information and to RSVP for the event or follow the link:

As some of you may now we have a site visit to CSBP Chemicals booked in the
week break on the 29th of August. For all those who bought tickets, you got
in just in time. We were overwhelmed with how quickly the tickets sold and
we definitely need to plead for more spaces next time. For those who have
missed out, don't stress! We have more site visits planned for either later
in the semester or early next year.

Finally, who doesn't love a sausage sizzle? Well later in the semester we
are having a "Snags with Grads" event where we will be cooking you free
sausage sizzles, giving you free soft drink and providing you with an
opportunity to speak to a few graduates in industry in a casual
environment. This should be held on the 7th of September but stay tuned on
facebook for more information.

Feel free to contact ACES with any queries and make sure you have all
joined the facebook page for ACES Curtin. I look forward to seeing you all
at the quiz night.

Kind Regards,

Daniel Murphy
