Adobe Offers Hindi Reader Preview Adobe Systems has announced a preview version of its Adobe Reader in Hindi, which includes a user interface in Hindi and is developed primarily for the large vernacular audience in the country. With this version of Reader, users can open, view and print Hindi PDF files with ease. The Hindi Reader addresses language boundaries in the Indian market, and encourages greater exchange of secure documents in the Hindi language. Adobe Reader software, together with Adobe's Macromedia Flash Player, according to company sources, is installed on 600 million connected PCs and devices worldwide. Naresh Gupta, senior vice president - print and classic publishing solutions business unit, and managing director, India R&D, said, "The preview of the Hindi Reader will have the basic functions of the English Reader. The Hindi preview is not a trial version. We have been working on the preview of the Hindi Reader for some time. We're releasing the preview version, to get feedback from customers in the market about this functionality to guide our development plans. Next steps for the Hindi Reader will be decided based on market feedback on the preview release." When asked about Adobe's claim that its Macromedia Flash Players have been installed on 600 million connected PCs and devices worldwide, Gupta said, "We would like to clarify the above mentioned figure. Adobe has distributed more than 1.25 billion copies of Adobe Reader to date. Macromedia Flash player is available to 98 percent of Web users."
