Tek Talk Archives description:
TEK TALK WELCOMES DAN ROBERTS DIRECTOR, MD SUPPORT
Having retired from a half century as a teacher, author, composer,
theatrical director, and musician, Dan Roberts now dedicates his full time
to helping others learn about and live with blindness and low vision.
Because of his own need for support and information about visual impairment,
he founded MD Support in 1995 and has since become a leading patient
advocate, industry consultant, and low vision educator.
In addition to the many outreach projects of MD Support, he has recently
launched an indoor wayfinding application called "LowViz Guide" specifically
for use at state and national conferences by visually impaired attendees.
"LowViz Guide", is being offered at no cost to charitable organizations,
with financial support from Macular Degeneration Foundation, a long-time
partner of MD Support.
Several events are featuring the technology in 2015, including the Americans
With Disabilities National Symposium and annual conferences of the American
Council of the Blind, the California Council of the Blind, the Pennsylvania
Council of the Blind, the Blinded Veterans Association, and Guide Dogs for
the Blind.
Dan Roberts will briefly describe the work of MD Support and then explain
how the organization's new indoor wayfinding technology works.
