Subject: Connecting to wifi, downloading and reading books from NLS BARD
with Victor Reader Stream Made Easy, very late tip from Dan for Wednesday
September 24 2014

This is a document I put together after helping several individuals connect
to bard. I did encounter one person who did not yet register their VRS
withBARD. If this not done, books from BARD can not be played on the VRS.

I hope this makes the process easier.

Have an great evening!

Connecting to wifi, downloading and reading books from NLS BARD with Victor
Reader Stream Made Easy:

*I. Connecting to wifi for First Time Users

1. Press and hold wifi button above number 2 until hearing "airplane mode
off" then release.

2. Press wifi button again and wait for prompt of "unable to connect to
a network."

3. Press number seven once.

4. Press eight twice to reach "scan for available networks."

5. Press pound, (right of zero.)

6. When locating your network, press pound.

7. Type in the password.

Note: uppercase is turned on by pressing the bookmark key above number
three.

Then it must be shut off if any letter is lowercase by pressing the same key
again.

8. Press pound, right of zero, (confirm.)

9. You will soon hear "NLS enabled"

*II. Searching the collection and downloading a book.

1. When on line, press number one until hearing "NLS BARD, zero books,
search for NLS BARD books."

2. Press pound, right of zero, (confirm.)

3. Use number two or eight to move up/down the list of categories.

4. Press pound on your choice.

5. Press number four or six for moving back or forward through available
books.

6. Press pound on the book you wish to download. VictorStream will voice,
"added to download cue."

7, Check download progress by pressing zero and it is the second item read
out.

You can press number six to explore more books as download continues.

8. A brief tone is heard when download is finished and VRS voices "download
complete."

9. If the VRS gets shut off during download, or connection to the wifi is
broken due to out of range, the download will continue once connection is
established again.

You can move to internet radio or any other service on the online menu and
the download continues. A tone will be heard when download is completed no
matter what service is currently being accessed.

*III. Reading a book and moving it from the NLS BARD bookshelf to your SD
card:

Note: Reading downloaded books from the nls bard site can only be done via
wifi.

So moving them to the SD card is good for accessing the book

1. When online, press number one until reaching "NLS BARD." If there is a
book downloaded, VRS will voice "NLS BARD, (number of books), search NLS
BARD books" So if there is one book available from downloading, VRS says,

"NLS BARD, one book, one book, search NLS BARD books."

2. Use number four or six to navigate through available download books and
into the "search NLS BARD books."

3. Once on a downloaded book, press play.

4. When the book is playing, you can press number three twice to move the
book to the sd card. VRS will ask you to press pound (confirm) and the book
will be moved with progress percentages announced.

The book is removed from the nls bard book shelf.
