Can the wireless on the new stream be used to connect it to a network for
data transfer?

Hi,

They need to do something. Plextalk Pocket has been doing wifi including
Internet Radio for years. And now the new Stream doesn't even work with
Audible yet. So it's a step backwards.

All the best

Hi Steve and co
I have read the messages in this thread, the new stream is wifi ready, I got
mine today, at present the stream can only use the wifi for accessing
up-dates and product keys but in a future up-date, they hope to introduce
internet radio and other features, they also hope to use the wifi on the
stream to access streaming services, I am only passing on what I have heard.
Not an expert.

Hi,

In that case, the Plextalk Pocket is streets ahead, and I reckon the Linnio
will be even more ahead.

Steve,

I am pretty sure that is the case. I think the only thing you can do with
the wi fi is update the Stream itself, but maybe someone with more technical
knowledge than I have will be able to tell you for certain.

Hi,

You mean it doesn't have Internet radio, and yet it has wifi? That does
surprise me.

Subject: [access-uk] the new Victor Stream

Hi all

I have today received the new Victor Stream. I have not had much time to
investigate as yet, but here are my initial impressions.

When you hold the new Stream in your hand for the first time, it is totally
recognisable as a Victor Stream if you have handled the original version.
Yes, the new one is a little smaller, and the hard corners have changed into
a more pleasing curvy product. The keyboard is much the same, but above the
number 2 key is a round button which is something to do with the wi fi
connectivity.

The user gide is accessed by holding down the number 1 key, as before. The
sleep timer key also tells you the time and date.

One big difference is that the new Stream is not audible compatible.
Hopefully that may be rectified in due course.

Operation is very much as before, but two things are immediately apparent.
The amount of charge in the battery is now expressed ass a percentage,
rather than high medium low and very low as before, a definite improvement.
The greatest improvement though to my mind are the new voices. I always got
on fairly well with Daniel, but now we have two acapella voices, Graham and
Rachel. Playing at normal speed they both sound very pleasing and natural.
However, as I enjoy listening to text files at high speed, I listened to
some text at much higher speeds. Very often, voices start breaking up when
pushed to read fast, but both Rachel and Graham coped well.

These are only my first impressions, but I am sure that, particularly with
the clearer sounding voices, the new Victor Stream will be a worthy
successor to the old one. It would be nice to have internet radio, and an
alarm for the clock should be possible, but generally I think I am going to
be very happy with the victor Stream.
