Alex,

It shouldn't interfere with the running of your computer or other
software. I've had it installed for sometime. It's very like Flash in that
you can have the plugin installed, but unless you come across some
Silverlight content, you won't know it's there.

In my experience, Silverlight is not at all accessible. I've not
explored it much, but certainly the results I've seen so far have been
perfectly dreadful in accessibility terms. It may be possible to make
Silverlight accessible, but at present I don't believe there are many
accessibility features built into the platform. Not something I've looked
into a great deal though.

Regards,
Léonie.

Hi Léonie.

do you have any idea whether silverlight once installed makes IE, or
anything else on the machine difficult or unusable? Is it worth installing
for someone like me with no sight at all?

Alex,

Silverlight is Microsoft's equivalent of Flash. It uses a different
approach, but it's effectively a platform for presenting animation, vector
graphics and multimedia.
