It is a program that transcodes a standard DVD so that it will fit onto a
blank one.
There is usually some loss of quality as many commercial DVDs are dual layer
and hold around 8GB where as a single layer blank holds 4.7Gb. The process
is somewhat analogous to MP3 in audio terms.
