Go via the Ethernet port if you can. Networking via USB is a resource hog.

I have been asked by daughter who lives 2 hours away if I can set them up
with a network.
Unfortunately, I haven't looked in detail how the PC is connected to the
cable termination in the house.
Can someone let me know what termination I need on the cable from the router
to the NTL network.
