Remember that for the streaming service you are paying £50 for what you
already have access to through being a member of the Talking Book library.
The only advantage you get is instant streaming. I don't think the
availability of books on disc on demand is really such a great advantage as
you can already have this in effect through the TalkingBook service. I can't
see how RNIB could offer a download service not linked to book purchase.
As to the functions of the player, I have found them quick enough to use.
However, I can never remember the keys. I don't think this is a subscription
I shall be renewing in 2008.

Interesting Brian, re. the RNIB streamingnavigation facility you
mention. I wonder how responsive it is. Do you have to waite
sometime for a forward or back command to be acted on whilst on line?

Cheers,

Hi ian, i have had another chat with the rnib, and it is a stream.
you download a daisy software package, so when you start streaming a
book, you can navigat through it, just as you would on a disc. you
can either have the disc system, or the streaming system. there is a
third choice, this allows you to have two discs, and one streaming
book. brian.
