there is no delay in changing over from one speed to the other it takes
roughly 15 to 30 seconds to do this, I was talking to them and by the
time I had finished with them I was told to close every thing down leave it
for about two minutes and restart it all and it was there all done.

Just a quick update. I looked on the ntl website, in the "sign up to broadband" section. Yes, there really is a speed increase! it's all listed there as you said Andrew.
So, i phone up NTL to find out more, when it the speed increase gonna happen? How long will it be before my speed in increased.
Well, jammy as I am, I got my speed increased there and then! So, if not right now, i should be on 1mb within the next day!
