OSteve,

I would say that, if you have a number of apps (say 15-25 open) and you get lots of email etc., things begin to get a little slower and you only notice really when you tidy up the app switcher and reboot occasionally.

As for battery drain, I am not really sure on that point because I've almost always got an electricity supply handy and other items to use, so I don't worry too much about it ...

Hi Chris,

It makes no discernible difference to the battery in my limited testing.  I
have had loads of apps open in my 5S and Angie's 6S and I see no real
difference.  Do you?

The only difference may be if you leave a GPS app open and it is badly behaved
enough not to stop looking when you put it in the background.

All the best

Steve

Steve oh ok thanks for letting us know. I always close apps thinking it would
save battery life.

Hi,

I have read though that Apple don't recommend you close apps unless you
absolutely have to.  With modern iPhones, it's fine to leave apps open unless
you get problems.

Hi Janet,

Press the Home button twice which takes you into the App Switcher, locate the
app you want to close and double tap. If you have more than one app, be sure
you choose the right one. You can also swipe up in order to close it, in which
case the phone will confirm the app it's closing.

Double press your home button to get into the app switcher.
Swipe left and right along the open apps.
Swipe down with one finger on the app you want to close until it says ‘Close
App’.
Then double tap.
You can now continue to move left and right double tapping on each app as the
default action will be set to close the app.

Regards.
