Yeah, that's a con, but Malwarebytes scans and removes for free. The only thing you benefit by paying really is real-time malware protection.

It a dam great con.  The download is free - you can try it free - but
they don't tell you that you have to pay if you want it to fix
anything.

It really is time that we had some kind of International Trading
Standards who could clamp down on this type of thing.
