Hi John,
it depends on how the computer is set. On a number times I have found that
my computer has re-booted overnight and is at the log on prompt.
When I get to the desktop, a dialogue box will appear stating that Windows
as downloaded and installed an important update causing your computer to
re-boot.

No, it could be that Windows as downloaded an important update and that's
why the computer as acted in the way it's done in order to re-boot and
install itself correctly.
