It's much better value for the money than the Victor Stream, and, certainly from a recording perspective is an infinitely superior product. It also gives format flexibility that is only possible with the Stream if one buys an additional software package.

Hi Will

You can use the internal mics on the DM-5 whilst moving about, however, a
puff of wind is likely to ruin your recording.

Therefore, if it's likely to be breezy, I use an external microphone with
a
wind-gag, as no wind-gag is available for the DM-5 that I know of.

In such cases, I switch the internal microphone setting to off, i.e. no
electronic manipulation of the stereo image.

U am no expertm but my experience with trying to use clip-on external
microphones with digital recorders is that the main problem is air flow
past
the microphone as you move about. I am told that some come with wind
guards
to help with this, so you might want to investigate this.

hi all,

If I use aan external mike with an olympus dm5 will it do the stereo
fields
of narrow, normal, and wide as the internal mikes do?
If I am walkinga round surely external is the only option
