Hi Jim

Go to
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
and download the latest version if it is for Vista. If you are using XP or earlier, the link on that page will take you to where you choose a different platform.

Some PDF files are encrypted, or locked, which makes it difficult to open them. What I do if they are on the Internet, is right mouse click on the PDF link, and arrow down to Save As Target and actually download the file rather than open it online. This normally works for me, and then enables me to open the file using Adobe Reader and save it as a text file if I want to.

I hope that helps.

Jackie

Subject: [access-uk] acrobat reader 8

Hi List, two questions. Firstly, I seem to have a bother finding a web site where I can download the latest version of adobe acrobat reader for free. All the sites I get to want me to pay or sign up for a limitted time. I just want to download the latest version so I can upload pdf files and, if possible, save them as text files.

Secondly, I have joined new deal for musicians through my local job centre plus, and I'm having a devil of a time reading the work books which are pdf files`but I can't save them to text. Furthermore, I find navigating within these workbooks quite difficult.
So, any advice, guidance or help would be much appreciated.
