[access-uk] a small word 2k query

Morning all,,
I have previously posted this on 3 lists , with no
response. Hopefuly a list member here may have some thoughts.
I wonder if list members using JFW 4.5 an up, in fact any screen
reader, and word 9 or office 2k
running XP (patched,)have experienced the following It's silly but
slightly enoying. Here's a breakdown.
It appears that, when documents are opened outside the word program,
when a doc is opened, using navigation keys such as control-right
arrow, or control-left-arrowjaws does not echo the word as it should,
or perhaps does not follow , the cursor if it is moving at all, or
the cursor is not moving. There's no way of knowing, untill some
peepers are about, and that won't be for a while. Now if you've
opened the document from the sub-menu item, "open office document"
yes you still have the same crippled navigation, but if you close the
first window, things return to normal. Unloading and re-starting JFW
also achieves the desired behaviour. If you open a document from
within the word application, navigation is ok. Now I know that it
could be argued, "open documents from within word" and that would
solve the problem wouldn't it. But it aught to work the other
way. It used to, Now it doesn't. I have ran the JFW repair tool,
whatever good that did. I have renamed Normal.dot and had word build
a new one, there were no significant customizations to worry about
anyway. I have rid the system of extraneous temp files. I have
checked display settings. I have ensured that the word window, and
document window are maximized. I have run disk management tools,
which have improved the performance of the machine, but not helped
this problem, but I suspected they wouldn't. It does seem that when
a document opens word via association, certain functions mis-behave.
Any ideas will be gladly received.
