John,

It's giving a hardware device I/O error when I try to copy files into it.
I've tried it on an XP and a Win7 machine with the same results, so I cannot
copy any files into it at all. It will format on both machines, but takes
ten minutes to achieve this, and even then no files can be transferred.

I don't know what the recovery tool is, so assume it's available from the
creative website?

Hi Mark, what's wrong with it? Have you run the recovery tool?
                    John.
