Long time member, posting in a more official capacity, with moderator
George's approval.
I'm running a trial in association with the R N I B which finishes tomorrow
night (10th), and would really appreciate 5 minutes of your time.

The number to dial is 0203 4321 488 - that's a standard London number, so
normal geographical call charges apply.
It may be that you are not the target audience for the service as you
already have internet access, but please try and put yourself in the
position of, for example, the three quarters of over 65s who don't have or
use the internet, and may find it useful to have immediate access to things
like Weekly Connect podcasts, the weather, lighting up times, and
information on benefits.
Even if you have tried it before, please try again as there have been a lot
of recent changes based on the last month's feedback.
For example, it was suggested that menus are changed from "Press 1 for (the
item)" to "For (the item) press 1". Personally, I am not convinced by this,
so opinions would be welcome.
The test has grown very fast over the last month, so you may find a bug or
something which isn't clear - please let us know!
You can leave feedback or suggestions by pressing star and then 9 at any
time, and this will be forwarded onto both the developer and RNIB, this is
the quickest way to report any bug or make comments or suggestions.
Please don't leave feedback for the trial on this list - the people who
need the feedback won't get it, and it'll only clog up the group.

A new feature to try is "guided mode". Once the introduction has played,
press star and then hash at any point to turn on guided mode, and then each
of three stages of topic, menu and article will be preceded once by a short
help track describing what to do.
Of particular interest for feedback would be navigation.
If, for example, you try and navigate more than 3 minutes in a 2 minute
track, there is a short "buzz" and the track continues. There are various
other bits of feedback to let the listener know if they are on the first,
last or only track. When you press 5 during an information track, you will
hear the pause time, duration and track number of the selected track.
I must stress that this is NOT meant to represent the full breadth or
quality of information which would be available if a full service is
launched, for example, for the trial some of the factsheets use a synthetic
voice.
One future feature not in the trial but that would be part of a full
service is voice recognition, so in addition to menu navigation, you could
say "help with attendance allowance". We're also looking at the possibility
of DAISY navigation as well as possible integration with Newsagent.
