Thanks for the clarification, George - and apologies for the delay in acknowledging your help. At least i know now that if I ask my wife to look for the padlock, I may risk becoming very unpopular. I do intend to use the Vista Start menu view in due course, but temporarily having the Classic view is making life a little easier.
