Yes you are wrong. Download and install the lates version of Audible Manager
from the Audible site, open it, hook the Stream up to the computer and
switch it on and then you can activate it like you do any other device.
There's an option to download the component in the add device option.

When I purchased my victor stream last year, I was led to believe that they
would be adding Audible support by the end of 2007. As far as I can tell,
this has not yet happened. 

Am I wrong? Does anyone know any more details on this?
