Hi Roger,

As I understand it, and put quite simply, it's the time
delay between say hitting a note on your keyboard, and
hearing it through your soundcard speakers.

Similar to playing one of the old wind-pipe organs, where
you were often playing 2-3 bars ahead of what you were
hearing.
