Hi Chris.

Just to clarify, Sky do provide a line rental should you wish to switch from your BT line rental. However, I'm not sure the question was just around having access to a landline to be able to use certain functions of Sky TV such as ordering movies and the like to which the answer is, no, you don't need to be hooked up to a telephone line at all as long as you don't want to use those features..

Regards.

Hi, I think it's because unlike Virgin Media, for example, Sky doesn't provide any kind of line rental, nor does it provide cable services, so I guess one way around this is to require users signing up to their broadband service that a BT line is necessary. I know there's Virgin Media and other companies offering their own line rental, but it must be a fierce competition out there, and since 90 odd percent of us are on BT, Sky might as well use the most common denominator. Hope this helps.
