Easy, just did it on your message!!

Thanks ever so much.

How on earth do you make sure you have the right letter keys to use with the
ctrl etc? I have to put my fingers on the keyboard as if I was going to type,
find the key that way, keep a finger on it and then use the other hand to find
the ctrl, alt etc.

  Hi Trace.

The process is a little different as you will have to use Hal's Drag and
  Drop feature.

  This is straight forward though.

When in virtual Focus proceed as follows.

Arrow to the first letter of the section you want to select.

Press Right control And the Home key in the block of six keys. Hal should
  say drag.

Next arrow to the last letter of the selection (just use the arrow keys with
no modifier keys). When on the last portion to be selected press Right
Control and End (block of six again) Hal should say Drop. Finally press
left Control and C to copy. You can then paste in the usual way into what
  application you wish.
