[access-uk] Router?

hi guys,
more about Routers I'm afraid.
All i want to do is move my computer system to another room, without running miles of cabling.
Will a router do this job, or will it have to be a wireless router?.
As you can Imagine, i don't know much about this subject, but i'm sure, one of you kind guys will eh.
