Word 2003 is pretty much the same as Word 2000, apart from some bells and whistles. Some of the bells and whistles bug me, so I turn them off, and that makes my life easier. But the menu structure is the same, and it works fine with JFW. I've got it running under XP and Vista, and it seems fine.

Thanks Peter and Jackie. Jackie, I got you... Another question please. Office 2003 uses the usual menus, right? I've never used it; I was using Word 2000. I rang a computer shop and the guy said that if I remove office 2007 I can install office 2003 no problems. I haven't really used Office 2007 on my new computer; I only launched the trial version of Word 2007 and that was enough for me to decide!

Hi Peter
With my laptop came recovery disks etc that you normally get in the box. I guess that if ever I need to restore the system, I will have to remove the 30-day trial of Office 2007 like I did, and install 2003 Professional, as with Norton 360 for AVG Free. I just figured that if I so much as launched either of those programs, I would be in trouble to remove and install something else. Vista seems intent on remembering absolutely everything you do, like it mirrors every action.

Peter and Amro, I did say however that I never launched Office 2007.  I
simply saw it and uninstalled it without even looking.  I knew that if I
launched it, I'd have problems.

Lucky you.
You can't roll back your office 2003  pst files to office 2000
compatibility, so I doubt you could have rolled back your office 2007 pst 
files to office 2003 compatibility.
You can move up from 3k to 7k, but not back down.
Once used for a while, once you have stored dozens of new appointments and 
birthdays etc, you're pretty much stuck with it.

When I got my HP laptop in the summer, it came with Vista Home Premium,
and
a 30-day trial of Office 2007.  I didn't even bother launching it.  I
simply
took it out using the Add Remove facility, and installed Office 2003
Professional which I use. I was no way going to pay to upgrade to Office 
2007, just for the hell of being up-to-date, and I've had absolutely no
problems since doing that.
