Hi,

You can run Windows CHKDSK to attempt to find/fix bad sectors. Still swops
data out. But I'd not be wanting to do more with the drive than get data off.
Bad sectors = an unstable drive, not to be relied upon for important data/tasks.

Regards,
Barry.

The point though is if the drive has bad sectors putting it in a caddy or USB
isn't really going to help you get Windows on it any better. If there are bad
sectors the most a drive can do is map those out of the usable range by
swapping out with a few spares it has. The best technique for that is a
utility called Spinrite and running that which is not free but used by some
computer specialists. For that to work its magic you must be using an internal
bus rather than USB. Even then one might be a little wary of it depending on
its age.
