Trace brings up a very good point here, so have started a new thread.
"The phone companies are actually as bad in some ways, take the premium rate
numbers that in the past people have rung not knowing they'd be charged an arm
and a leg for doing so, the phone companies say that they can't do anything
about them, of course they can as its the phone companies who we pay our bills
to and so it must be they who pass on the money, hardly roket science not to is
it."
I have no objections to paying a reasonable telephone fee for support.
However what really does brass me off is being on hold to these numbers for an
excessive length of time while being told, "Your call is important to us -
please hold."
