Not sure about the answer to your main question but just to say that I don't use any other media player. Iplayer content plays in flash great and all the buttons etc work very well. I don't think the BBC use real player content any more.

Hi Peter and Others
I attempted again to try and listen to The Archers by going first to the Archers Home Page and then clicking on the Link to the most recent episode. I got the Beta version of the iPlayer and a notice saying the page was not available. However, given what Peter had said to me, I decided to explore the iPlayer page that was open to see if any other writing was there and sure enough there were all different links. I came across a link for The Archers eventually which i did press and then had a choice of links to all the week's episodes. Now my question is this. Prior to having the iPlayer Beta come up, I used to be able to go to the Archers Home page and then click on the link to listen to the latest episode. As soon as I did that Real Player came up and started playing immediately. Now I've just realized I did remove real Player since I last did this and replaced it with VLC Media Player. Maybe this does not behave in the same way as Real Player and does not start playing immediately. Will I always have to go now to the iPlayer and locate The Archers and then locate the various daily episodes or is there some way I can click on the link on the Archer's Home Page and get the episode to start playing immediately?

Sorry for such a long and convaluted questin.

Did you try what I have suggested re clearing your internet cookies to get it back to the current version of iplayer instead of the beta?

Thanks, that is exactly what I do. I was not getting it. It was saying the page was unavailable. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Beasley" <pjbeasley@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Well it may be fine Peter but as an Archers fan I am trying to listen to the latest episode. Normally I have no problem but now all I am getting is this beta iPlayer and it saying page not found. Well that is disappointing. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Holdstock" <peterholdstock@xxxxxxx>

Hi, in case people aren't aware there is now a beta version of the new BBC Iplayer and so far I love it. A few of the new features include;
* Login to save your settings
* Viewing suggestions based on previous viewing and selected categories.
* Choose the categories you want to appear i.e. audio described
* favourites feature which will tell you when new episodes of your favourite series are available or previous ones are about to be removed.

Other features as well and well worth using as all extremely accessible. It also works well on the iphone and I think is already the default player when going to the iplayer site on your iphone although you can't seem to login to save your settings yet.

Just go to the iplayer home page and search for beta and you'll find the link.
