Not sure about the answer to your main question but just to say that I don't use any other media player. Iplayer content plays in flash great and all the buttons etc work very well. I don't think the BBC use real player content any more.

Hi Peter and OthersI attempted again to try and listen to The Archers by going first to the Archers Home Page and then clicking on the Link to the most recent episode. I got the Beta version of the iPlayer and a notice saying the page was not available. However, given what Peter had said to me, I decided to explore the iPlayer page that was open to see if any other writing was there and sure enough there were all different links. I came across a link for The Archers eventually which i did press and then had a choice of links to all the week's episodes. Now my question is this. Prior to having the iPlayer Beta come up, I used to be able to go to the Archers Home page and then click on the link to listen to the latest episode. As soon as I did that Real Player came up and started playing immediately. Now I've just realized I did remove real Player since I last did this and replaced it with VLC Media Player. Maybe this does not behave in the same way as Real Player and does not start playing immediately.
