Hi. You know if the machine has a network card by refering to device manager - Network cards. You should see the RJ45 socket on the back of the computer, possibly on the motherboard just next to sound/video ports? The Vigor if at defaults will allow any wireless client to connect, so by installing the software for the USB card (assumed you got two Draytek cards when you purchased the router)? It should pick up a wireless network with the SSID of default. It will just connect and give you no prompting for password etc, and assign you a address from the DHCP server, you can then go to http://192.168.1.1 and follow prompts to get ADSL up and running, then fine-tune the wireless settings to encrypt/limit connections to authorised devices etc. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of SHARON BOWELL Sent: Mon 20/12/2004 14:14 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Network Cards Hi, Is there a way of telling whether my computer has a network card inside. I have just bought a wireless router, Draytek Vigor, one recommended on this list. However, I was told I did not need a network card, as I bought two USB connectors. However, I can't get the thing to work, I have no internet access at present, and I can't get it to find my daughter's computer, which is what I needed to link to. Any assistance greatly received.
