[access-uk] Re: Netbook thread revisited

Hi Eleanor,
Just a thought, there is a program called Move Me which will copy your apps,
settings, files etc over to a new machine. I have made a preset image with all
my regularly used apps, and it came to about 20 GB in size. So when I get the
netbook, I'll connect it up to my network, tell Move Me to transfer, go to bed
and when I get up in the morning, once I've restarted the netbook it should
have all my applications, plus settings for them that I've customised on the
PC. That's one of the reasons why I can't wait to get it, to see how it
performs after I've done this. I also plan on installing Linux on it, as my PC
failed miserably when I tried that on here.

It is a matter of preference. One can get used to the netbook keyboard but
like me you obviously like to have one at leat on stand-by. I sometimes use
a keyboard (external) with my laptop and at other times I do not. If you
are wanting the netbook for out and about then I do not think you want to
lug an external keyboard around with you too. Entirely a matter of
preference. There are (I think) 3 USB connections. Now I always use an
external mouse so one of these is used up immediately.

Good luck with it Adrien. I've started installing lots of my software and
got carried away and did not realize the time. I'd say that's what happened
to Jackie the day she spent over 6 hours on it configuring her software to
her personal needs.

Eleanor
