[access-uk] My sounds has gone!

Hello all,
All my system sounds has stopped working. I am getting sound otherwise,
for example JAWS speech, and my custom sound for new mail in
Thunderbird, but nothing else. I tried to reset the sound scheme,
muted/unmuted the system sounds in Volume Control, still no system
sounds. Help please! This is on my Starter netbook.
