Welcome to the newly moved access-uk list. NOTE: Leaving instructions, etc.,
are at the very end of this message.

Hi all,

As far as I can tell, I've pretty well completed the major setting up of
the new access-uk list. So, while there are only a few of us, I'd be
most grateful if you could start posting, and see if we encounter any
problems. Now is a good time to provide input about anything I've done
wrong, right, or plain forgotten about.

If you just want to post a test message, that's fine at this stage in
the game, though I would discourage the practice when the list is up and
running will all members.

Don't forget, the posting address is access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

All things being equal, the major things in effect are:-

All messages will be converted to plain text, which I hope will ease
fears of virus activity.
All messages currently have a Header, telling people to look at the
Footer. (We can remove that in due course)
The Footer tells people how to unsubscribe.
The Footer also tells people how to get an FAQ with information about
settings for holidays, digest, etc..
The message size is currently limited to 20k to avoid over quoting, but
we can adjust that if needs be.

By the way, the message about McAfee virus scan, just before the Footer,
comes from my own Windows 2003 Enterprise Server and Exchange Server, so
don't be surprised if you don't see it in your own postings.

I shall keep my fingers and toes crossed, and look forward to hearing
from you all.

George Bell.
