hi david,

i use a couple of different versions of these.
the one that is used the most is called a parcelpod.
this is a top loading model that when you lift the lid a platform comes up
for the parcel to be put on and when the lid is closed back down the parcel
is deposited in the bottom section which you need your key to open to
retreve your parcel and people can't get at it by lifting the lid again.
this model can be floor standing and fixed to the wall or you can get a
very solid post to fix to the ground and then bolt it to the post which
holds it about a foot off the floor.
this is a very strong unit and they also sell other types and sizes and
mine still seems as good as when new and it must be 5 or six years old now.
you can find out more about these at:
www.parcelpod.com

the other one i have is called a hippo.
this is a bigger unit and has to b fixed to the wall or floor whilst
standing on the floor.
this one has a front opening door that you leave unlocked and you have to
rely on the person who delivers your parcel to close the dorr and turn and
push in the handle to lock it.
this is perfect for if you are expecting a large parcel as it would easily
take a box that measures 18 x 18 x 24 inches
and something even taller if it wasn't so large in one of the other
dimensions.
we have this one mainly for our dogs food to be put in encase were out when
it arrives and it can take two of these at the same time and there more
than 2 feet tall and about 18 inches wide by 6 or 7 inches thick.
there was a third make that was very popular but at this moment i can't
remember what it's called but if i do i'll let you know.

pete.
