It does actually look like Amazon have stopped doing the Wi-Fi only version. I
got mine from Tescos a while ago at the old £109 price, £79 is a bargain.

Dear Jackie

You can actually purchase the Keyboard Kindle, Wi-Fi only edition costing £79
here is the link:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kindle-Wireless-Reader-Wifi-Graphite/dp/B002Y27P46/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1320920972&sr=8-4

If you can turn on the voice guide and set everything else up you should be
able to download books directly to the Kindle easily enough. On the latest
firmware there is even a hotkey to start the voice guide, I don't recall what
it is though. You do however need to register the Kindle before the voice
guide works as I recall though, some help therefore may be required.

There is not a choice of voices to my knowledge but is not Daniel I think most
users would say that is both of good quality and not as annoying as Daniel.

Apologies everyone since I appreciate this topic has been covered many times
on both these lists. But I haven't needed to follow the various threads
until now, so hope one or more of you could give me answers to the following
questions.

1. I realise the only accessible Kindle that seems to be available is the
one that costs £149 from Amazon with 3G and WiFi. But could you tell me how
accessible this model is in terms of use?

2. Can I download books with ease, or does this require sighted assistance?

3. Is the voice our dreaded friend Daniel, or can you choose or change?

Any other help would be great at this time. I have quite a large reading
list for various subjects at university, and I understand Apple books are
much more expensive when I can't find any in Braille or on talking book,
particularly reference books and specific dictionaries.

Many thanks, and apologies again for raising what seems to be a frequently
visited topic.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns
