I'm running Steve's Talking Clock, and I did have a look around its options,
but there wasn't anything to help me!

Darren, I too have a talking clock on my computer and there is a volume
control in the actual clock program itself. Have you checked for this in
your clock program? Mine is say the time, by the way!
