Martin, you were right, after a bit of trouble where narrator would only
read me its own screen with all the settings and options, I managed to make
it read the log on screen. I switched user and shut the computer after
unlocking my account and kept my fingers and toes crossed.
The laptop shut down properly and when restarted got me Jaws at the log on
screen as usual. Now all is well.
You bet I'll remember how precious narrator is when I get in a jam!
By the way, the utility seems a lot better than in up, was very pleasantly
surprised.
Well done Microsoft!
And, thanks lot Martin
Hope I can return the favour some day.
Cheers now,
Marie.

can you use narrator? windows key and u? would that help? and unlocking
means using your password, or just hitting enter on the password prompt if
you haven't got one

Subject: [access-uk] Improper shutdown on laptop running Vista

Hi gang,
The other day, being in a bit of a rush, I pressed the on-off switch on the
laptop to accelerate shutdown when, obviously the system was doing something
and was not ready to do so.
Now, Windows won't start. Apparently, from what appears on the screen, my
account is locked. I press alt+ctrl+delete to unlock but Jaws doesn't start
talking at the log on screen as it should. I have nobody around at the
moment with enough useful sight to tell me what's on the screen.
I presume I should log off or shut down but do not know the shortcut keys in
Vista to achieve this.
Can anyone help?
Please, please someone get me out of this fix! I hate getting frustrated by
something as simple as an inaccessible screen!
Thanks to all in advance.
Marie
